A Loan Reunites a Family

What would you do if at age 27 and a single mother of two young children, you were diagnosed with cancer?

Facing this incredible challenge, Milagros del Carmen Paz made the heart-wrenching decision to give her children to a relative so they could get used to her not being around. She then threw herself into work, selling clothing to pay for her surgeries and medicines, her only wish to get well so she could see her children again.

In the midst of this desperation, Milagros heard about Opportunity International Honduras. Joining a Trust Bank,  she not only received a loan but suddenly, she was no longer alone. With the support of the 16 women and the Loan Officer in her Trust Bank, her life was changed.

With a loan, training and support, Milagros’ income increased by 400%, allowing her to afford better treatment. Today she is cancer-free. But her real joy is that she is now reunited with her children and able to  provide for all their needs.
