Become a Member, Make a Difference
You can help fulfill the vision of Opportunity International by becoming a member of our Governors Council. This influential group of members helps poor entrepreneurs around the world by promoting the mission of Opportunity in their own communities. Governors meet with leaders from Opportunity and participate in educational Insight Trips to visit and meet with clients in the developing world. Governors also make Opportunity International a priority in their giving, advocating and volunteering. Each governor donates or raises $5,000 or more per year to support the work of Opportunity International.

Opportunity International Canada Governors from around the country will meet annually to learn more about our work, meet with staff leadership and directors, share ideas and meet other governors who are passionate about helping to lift poor entrepreneurs out of poverty through microfinance.

As a member of the Governors Council, you are invited to share your time and skills in the following ways:

  • Speak to groups about Opportunity International
  • Organize and lead educational Insight Trips to visit and meet with clients in the developing world
  • Serve as an Opportunity liaison to your church or civic group
  • Meet and work with international speakers and visitors during the year
  • Research a special project for Opportunity staff
  • Host an Opportunity dinner party at your home
  • Serve on an Opportunity committee in your region
  • Pray for Opportunity International clients around the world

For more information on how you can become a volunteer representative for Opportunity International Canada contact: Lise Struthers, Governors Council Director.
